Color
Although most diamonds appear colorless, they do have slight shades of yellow or brown. As these shades become more easily apparent, the rarity and value decrease. Idea cutting accentuates the rare splendor of a diamond by producing dazzling brilliance thus reducing the amount of color when viewed from the top.
The highest and rarest color is described by using the letter D. from here the color scale will follow alphabetically from D, E, F, which are considered colorless to G, H, I which are near colorless, to J, K, L, which are faint yellow, and the lower quality being M, N, and O, which are light yellow. Now with the yellow color, once you reach fancy yellow diamonds, then the quality and price begin to increase again. Return to 4C's - Carat - Clarity - Color - Cut |
